DONATION SPOTLIGHT: THE NEIGHBORHOOD HOTEL LOVES TO HELP

The Neighborhood Hotel team is dedicated to the strength of community and supporting local businesses/organizations. We have been fortunate to have had many people/businesses rally around us during our early days and are endlessly grateful for all of the support that continues to come our way as we grow. We strongly believe that in order for our beloved city and neighborhoods to thrive, the community effort needs to be huge and consistent. We’re so grateful to live, work and grow in Chicago and in Southwest Michigan and have felt so much community support along the way. It’s only natural that we also want to support and give back to the city and communities that we love.

The Neighborhood Hotel team aims to make hundreds of lunches for those in need at least once every quarter — we often partner with Catholic Charities in order to distribute the meals to neighborhoods that need them the most.  As we spend more time engaging with so many neighborhoods and communities in Chicago [btw: did you know that Chicago has 77 neighborhoods or “community areas!?“], we’ve become passionate about doing what we can to help throughout the city.

At our Little Italy location, all thirty-five suites feature special (and very cozy) throw blankets designed by Emily Winter and The Weaving Mill team. The Weaving Mill is an artist-run industrial weaving studio in Chicago. In partnership with social services agency, Envision Unlimited, The Weaving Mill provides textile education workshops for adults with developmental disabilities. A portion of all WM proceeds goes to funding these workshops which is incredible.

Our annual goal is to continue supporting local organizations throughout Chicago, Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana. Every December, we donate a percentage of the hotel’s profits to a specific, local charity.

In December 2023, we partnered with Hope Chicago by donating 5% of The Neighborhood Hotel Lincoln Park and Little Italy’s revenue from December 1- January 15th to the organization. Hope Chicago’s mission is to create pathways to success for multiple generations of Chicagoans through equitable access to higher education. Hope Chicago’s bold vision is education and economic equity for all Illinois students and families. In Hope’s first year, they partnered with five CPS schools which totaled 4,100 CPS students and families. Over the course of a year, Hope Chicago has seen an increase of 30% in postsecondary enrollment over historical averages. Perhaps more impactful, students that embarked on a higher education pathway were able to make their decisions based on fit and match criteria, rather than financial risk.

In December 2024, we donated 5% of Lincoln Park and Little Italy’s revenue from December 1 – January 15th to the 100 Club of Illinois. The 100 Club of Illinois provides resources, several forms of financial support, access to training, and moral support to both the families of first responders killed in the line of duty and active duty first responders throughout the state of Illinois. All sworn federal, state, county and local first responders stationed in Illinois are included. The 100 Club of Illinois honors the brave men and women who serve in public safety, police, and fire departments throughout the 102 counties of Illinois, who risk their lives daily so that we can be safe in our homes, workplaces, and communities.

The following are organizations that we have supported over the last few months as we enter 2025. We hope to partner with many more organizations throughout the year — please let us know how we can help! We enjoy learning about all of the goodness going on in Chicago and try our best to donate whenever we can.

Our buildings have stories ingrained in the walls (in a non-creepy way) - stories that are meant to be told and shared. The Neighborhood Little Italy was formerly the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame which honored the greatest Italian-American athletes, broadcasters, and sports workers to benefit athletics in the United States. Once again, we've fallen for a space outfitted with cool history + architecture. Grateful to all of the hard workers and supporters who are turning another NEIGHBORHOOD HOTEL vision/dream into reality!
